• Monitoring - The Trust carries out monitoring-specific projects with the help of the community and maintains records of key areas of the Trust's work.  See the Monitoring page for more information.
  • Predator Control - Animal pest control is the main focus of our activities with predator control established across the entire Upper Waitangi River Catchment area for kiwi recovery as a priority.  See the Predators page for more information.
  • Rat and Possum Control - Landowners in all areas are encouraged to undertake rat, predator and possum control especially adjacent to intensively managed areas to prevent reinvasion of these areas.  See the Possum Browse and Trapping Tips pages for more information.
  • Advocacy for Responsible Cat and Dog Ownership - This is also a top priority. Public awareness of the plight of kiwi and their vulnerability to the household dog and cat is raised through a sustained advocacy campaign. The essential messages are delivered through newsletters, letter drops, signage along roads and walkways, personal contact, and school advocacy programmes.  See the Dog and Cat Control page for more information.
  • General Public Education - Waimate North Landcare Trust has an excellent record of public education and involvement. Field days, a stand at the local A&P Show each year, the Trust newsletter and regular media releases to the local media are undertaken.
